Douglas Laing - Old Particular - Bowmore 12 YO - Tasting Notes

Nose
Medicinal at first a bit. Then lemon zingy notes come to the front in a huge wave. It is a sweet nose underneath, but mixed with smoky bacon and fruit.

Some salty chocolate, some unripe banana, green apple, vanilla, and citrus. It reminded me at a point a bit of a BLT sandwich. Fresh ginger and red pepper linger below the fruity freshness.

Palate
Creamy chocolate, vanilla and dried fruits are strong on this palate. Raisins and smoky bacon give it a bit a meaty feel to it with on the side dark summer fruit and custard. Liquerish, salmiak powder and aniseed are going through my mind, with some pine freshness. Lovely.

Finish
Liquerish long finish mixed with acacia honey. The peat dryness is not overpowering on the finish.

Score
7.5 out of 10. This one is just lovely. Warming, peaty but not too peaty and depth of flavors...
Tasted this lovely dram in the #BigPeat Twitter Tasting organized by Douglas Laing and The Whiskywire.
