Flor de Cana Rum

At the Whisky & Rum aan Zee Festival I got to try two different expressions of the Flor de Cana rum, the 4 year old and the 12 year old. Here are my quick tasting notes on them

Flor de Cana - 4 gold
The nose is heavy spice and dense dark sugary. The palate is dark brown sugar cane combined with burned caramel and some dirty leather.

That with tobacco dryness, some vanilla and bitter marmalade.
The finish is a medium length one. My quick tasting notes score on this one is a 6 out of 10.

Flor de Cana - 12 yo
This nose is softer then the 4 year old expression. More balanced but with the same notes and more creamy.

The palate is like the nose and the similarities between the 4 and 12 are big, except there is some more bitter marmalade, vanilla, liquerish, citrus freshness and aniseed

Medium length finish also on this one. Just a bit better then the 4 year old, but the end score for this quick taste is also a 6 out of 10. It did not give me a big smile on my face sadly.
