Plantation Rum - 1998 - Grenada

At the Whisky & Rum aan Zee Festival I got to try some lovely Plantation rums in our explorations into the world of rum.
These really gave me the feel I was looking for in a rum, full and rich of flavours. Made some quick notes on it while at the festival

The sweet nose is filled with notes of tobacco, leafs and vanilla. It has a darker and richer layer filled with raisin, fruit, jam like notes, strawberry sweet, almost cassis note and some light chocolate.

The palate is liquerish, heavy summer forest fruits and very balanced giving back the same notes as the nose. It is sweet, filled with dried fruits, and some sherry kind of influences notable in the back with a fresh lemon and minty note.

Sugar sweet, dark and rich, with a good medium length finish, with some fresh sweet honey mint in the end. Gave it a 7,5 out of 10. Very nice, gonna look for some more expressions of these rums for sure!
